Vucic Eyes Capture of Serbia’s Northern Province

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and his party are starting the election in Vojvodina, intent on seizing the opposition's last bastion.

“If we get your support, there will be more hard work ahead of us, but within four years we will catch up with Europe and be able to boast of bigger salaries and pensions,” Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic told several thousand supporters in Sremska Mitrovica last Sunday.

This rally marked the official start of the campaign of Vucic’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party, SNS, ahead of early parliamentary, provincial and local elections scheduled for April 24.

The fact that Vucic started his election campaign is Serbia’s northern province is no coincidence.
