The Macedonia government will experience a much larger budget gap this year than previously predicted, and trade will suffer additionally due to the over-valued home currency, the denar, the Fitch international rating agency forecasts.

Macedonians are among the world’s most passionate cigarette smokers, the latest research from the World Health Organization shows. The number of smokers is on the rise, with about 35 per cent of the population consuming tobacco.

The law on lustration is likely to cause another Constitutional Court debacle, as have several other government measures that failed to pass recently, law experts told the daily. So far, the Constitutional Court has agreed to examine the lustration initiative.
